TECHNOLOGY
HOLLOWTECH
In the world elite, one thing is needed above all: top equipment. At the beginning of this millennium, we revolutionized alpine skiing with HOLLOWTECH technology! We are similarly thorough in Nordic sports. By removing unnecessary layers in the ski tip, the tips and skis overall are lighter. This gives them significantly better balance and reduces rotation during forward movement, helping athletes save energy and reach the finish faster.
CAP CONSTRUCTION
All cross-country ski models have a CAP construction with carbon reinforcement. Its surface film wraps around the sides of the ski, perfectly protecting the core. All Kästle skis for classic skiing are ideally adapted to their area of use.
CORE
Nowhere is it harder to survive than in nature – this is reflected in the ingenuity of the solutions applied. Bees, with their hexagonal honeycombs, have developed an ideally stable construction that allows for maximum strength using minimal material. For this reason, Kästle ski cores are made according to the principle of honeycombs from natural fibers, reducing weight to a minimum and ensuring stability. The core also retains elasticity and provides an explosive rebound effect underfoot!
UL WOOD
The honeycomb structure is embedded in a torsion box made of ultra-light paulownia wood, which we call UL WOOD. This guarantees optimal torsional stiffness and flex with minimal weight.
VARIANTS
Professional cross-country skiing is an extreme sport – for athletes and for the material! With varying temperatures and snow conditions, variables are added that cannot be controlled. For optimal performance in the most diverse conditions, we have developed four ski surface variants.
PLUS
A combination of base and grinding that provides the best glide properties at air temperatures from +10° C to -10° C.
COLD
Created for extreme conditions – this variant is used at air temperatures from -5° C to –30° C.
BASE
The type of base is optimally adapted to the area of use and conditions.
WC RACE PLUS
High-performance base used in the World Cup with excellent wax absorption and maximum glide properties. Usable in diverse snow conditions.
WC RACE COLD
High-performance base used in the World Cup with excellent wax absorption and maximum glide properties. Specially developed for cold, dry snow and low air humidity.
GRINDING
Besides the base, proper grinding, which must match the prevailing conditions, has an immense impact on glide properties. The basic rule is: the warmer it is, the coarser the structure.
Grinding is done at an angle slightly above 0 °C from the base. Thanks to constant cooling during the grinding process, fine structures can be gently and precisely integrated into the high-performance base.
UW1
World Cup base preparation with perfect final hand grinding. Ideal for variable snow conditions and wet, fine-grained snow.
CW1
Hand preparation of the World Cup base, ideal for fresh snow, or fine-grained, dry, and at the same time cold snow.
STIFFNESS
For the production of our new cross-country skis, we use a specially made press. With 40 setting options, it ensures unprecedented optimal alignment of camber and stiffness.
Besides the ideal length, the choice of ski stiffness is crucial for every athlete.
For these skis, we offer gradations MEDIUM and HARD.
