The story of Swix dates back to 1943, when Martin Matsbo collaborated with AB Astra chemists on innovative wax development. By 1946, Swix launched its first color-coded grip waxes and klisters, and at the 1948 Winter Olympics, all ski gold medalists used Swix waxes.
Since 1986, Swix has been based in Lillehammer, a city famous from the 1994 Winter Olympics. Today, Swix is the largest producer of wax and ski maintenance gear for both elite and recreational skiers.
