Detailed information

Product detailed description

Paraffin, glide wax SWIX LF10X, 60g, 0°C to +10°C

Temperature range from 0°C to +10°C

New wax in the Cera Nova X line, harder than the original LF10. Our tests have shown that a slightly harder wax performs better than the original version, especially when used alone. The adjusted hardness also increases the wax's durability. Perfect wax for preparing a new base, but also as a training wax.

When choosing a racing wax, we recommend waxes with a high fluorine content for this temperature range, but with a powder wax on top, LF10X can be used with confidence. The ideal choice in such a case would be the FC10X wax.

Recommended ironing temperature: 120°C.

LFX Waxes – with fluorocarbon

LFX waxes are fluorinated hydrocarbon waxes with low fluorine additives and a low melting point.
They are primarily used for training or racing in combination with Cera F as a top layer or alone as racing waxes at very low temperatures.
The temperature range and colors of the LFX waxes correspond to the HFX category, but differ in the 60-gram packaging. LFX waxes differ from CHX waxes by a somewhat more transparent appearance.

Application procedure for glide waxes - CH, LF, and HF

This procedure is a general recommendation from top servicemen

Source SWIX: Waxing manual for active skiers and marathon participants

  1. Scrape off the travel wax applied after the last race or training using a plexi scraper SWIX T823 and a groove scraper SWIX T88.
  2. Brush with a medium-coarse bronze brush SWIX T162 or a steel brush SWIX T179. 5-10 strokes from tip to tail and remove the remaining wax.
  3. Apply the appropriate wax according to daily conditions. Using an iron, drip the wax on both sides of the groove. The wax should melt easily. Check the recommended ironing temperatures for the wax. Keep the iron in continuous motion from the tip to the tail of the ski. One stroke should take approximately 8-10 seconds for skating skis.
  4. Repeat 3 times. Allow the ski to cool to room temperature for about 10 minutes.
  5. Do not forget to remove all excess wax in the groove and on both sides of the groove using a scraper SWIX T87 or SWIX T88. We recommend scraping the groove before scraping the base in case the scraper jumps out of the groove and could leave scratches on the already scraped base.
  6. If working with hard and brittle waxes, such as SWIX CH4X/CH6X, LF4X/LF6X, or HF4X/HF6X, scrape off as much wax as possible before it hardens. Once the ski cools, continue scraping with a sharp plexi scraper SWIX T823. Other waxes like SWIX CH7X/CH8X/CH10X, LF7X/LF8X/LF10X, or HF7X/HF8X/HF10X are scraped off once the ski cools to room temperature, about 10 minutes.
  7. Brush the base with a medium-coarse bronze brush SWIX T162 or a steel brush SWIX T179. 5-10 strokes.
  8. For final brushing and polishing, use a blue nylon polishing brush SWIX T160.

SWIX is a renowned Norwegian brand that has led the world of ski and snowboard waxes, service tools, poles, gloves, and apparel for cross-country and alpine skiing since 1946.

The story of Swix dates back to 1943, when Martin Matsbo collaborated with AB Astra chemists on innovative wax development. By 1946, Swix launched its first color-coded grip waxes and klisters, and at the 1948 Winter Olympics, all ski gold medalists used Swix waxes.

Since 1986, Swix has been based in Lillehammer, a city famous from the 1994 Winter Olympics. Today, Swix is the largest producer of wax and ski maintenance gear for both elite and recreational skiers. The range includes ski brushes, scrapers, irons, waxing tables and profiles, and spare parts for poles.
