REX Black Diamond – the king of hot-applied bicycle chain lubricants

Hot waxing a chain is becoming an increasingly popular method for lubricating bicycle chains. Solid wax does not attract dirt, keeps the entire drivetrain clean, and repels contaminants like traditional chain lubricants.

REX Black Diamond Hot Wax combines the proven effective Black Diamond additive technology with over 70 years of wax development experience from REX.

Previously thoroughly tested and highly effective additive technology used in REX Black Diamond Chain Lube has been transformed into solid wax.

To ensure high manufacturing quality, all Black Diamond ingredients are placed into one black piece, which is hand-cast in the product development lab in Hartola. This black additive piece of wax can be imagined as a bottle of Black Diamond chain lubricant in solid form.

Eleven white paraffin blocks from Rex, with a carefully selected wax blend, are combined with the additive block to guarantee the best lubrication performance on the market.

By melting all the wax pieces (11+1 mix), you get a wax blend that works perfectly in all conditions.

For an extremely durable mix for the longest rides and races, melt the black additive piece with four base wax pieces (4+1 mix). The remaining 7 wax blocks can be used as a cleaning wax for ongoing chain maintenance. The 4+1 mix will be extremely durable, stay clean, and maintain its performance longer.

With the possibility of two-stage wax treatment in one package, you get everything you need for optimal chain lubrication.

The lubricant is suitable for every season, dry and wet conditions, on-road and off-road.

• Chains waxed with hot wax do not leave stains, and strong solvents are not needed for subsequent cleaning. Hot water is sufficient.
• Hot wax waxing makes maintenance easier and extends the lifespan of drivetrain components.

Basic Instructions:

1. Thoroughly clean the chain with a strong cleaning agent, such as Rex Chain Cleaner. If the chain was previously waxed, just rinse with hot water and dry.
2. Melt the wax in a container (max. 100°C) and immerse the chain. Stir to ensure the wax penetrates the links well.
3. Remove, let cool, flex the links, and reinstall the chain on the bike. It will "break in" after a few kilometers.
4. Repeat lubrication when it starts to "rustle". Rinse the chain before each subsequent waxing.

Using an Ultrasonic Cleaner:

For perfect chain cleaning, an ultrasonic cleaner with Rex Chain Cleaner can be used. After cleaning, rinse with water or alcohol for better wax adhesion.
