REX Domestique Drip Wax is an innovative bicycle chain wax that delivers the benefits of hot waxing without complicated handling. Application procedure

1. Chain preparation: If traditional oil-based lubricant has been used, thoroughly clean the chain with a solvent, e.g. Rex Chain Cleaner. On a new chain, factory grease must be removed. If the chain was previously hot waxed, a surface wipe is sufficient.
2. Application: Slowly rotate the cranks while gently squeezing the bottle so small drops land on each link. For a freshly degreased chain, apply twice for best results.
3. Drying: Let the wax dry for at least 12 hours. The chain is then ready for use.
4. Maintenance: After riding in the rain, dry and wipe the chain, then apply a new layer of wax to prevent surface rust.

• How long does one application last?
  In dry conditions, several hundred kilometers. In wet conditions, duration shortens – after a wet ride, wipe and reapply.
• How many applications per bottle?
  Approximately 40 full applications when applied to both sides of the chain.
• How to clean the chain before re-lubrication?
  Simply wipe with a cloth, as the chain remains clean. For heavy dirt, rinse with water or wash with a biodegradable cleaner such as Rex Bicycle Wash.
• Is hot waxing necessary?
  Not necessary, Domestique works perfectly on its own. Occasional hot waxing is recommended as deep cleaning.
• Does it work in winter?
  Yes, both Rex Domestique and Rex Black Magik are suitable for winter riding. Always dry the chain after wet or snowy rides.
• Does it contain PFAS or harmful chemicals?
  No.

Perfect complement to hot wax – excellent on its own

Domestique Drip Wax is 100% compatible with Rex Black Diamond hot wax, but also works perfectly as a standalone solution. Unlike most competing emulsion waxes, it is completely identical in composition to hot wax. It does not attract dirt and does not accumulate in derailleur pulleys or chainrings.

This concept is familiar from our ski waxes: hot wax and liquid wax share an identical composition – the only difference lies in the application method.

Easy to use

• Use on its own:
  Apply generously to a clean chain, rotate the cranks so the wax penetrates the links, and let it dry overnight. Apply in a cross-chaining position (chain diagonally across chainrings and cassette) to open small gaps and improve penetration.
• Use as a complement to hot wax:
  Simply wipe the chain with a cloth, apply generously, and let it dry overnight. Again, apply in cross-chaining position for better penetration.

Troubleshooting common issues

• Short lubrication life: Chain may still have oil or factory grease residues – clean and reapply.
• Surface rust: Typical for all dry waxes. Always dry the chain after wet rides and reapply wax.
• Excessive wax flaking: Normal during the first application. Over time wax stabilizes inside the links.
• Stiff chain: Indicates proper penetration – after shifting through all gears, the chain loosens.
• Wax thickened in bottle: May be due to excessive shaking. Not a defect – properties after drying remain unchanged.
