Replacing the Mohair Strip
Required Tools: ski iron / hairdryer / heat gun (in a pinch, an old clothes iron can be used), wax remover or technical gasoline, new mohair strip.
Procedure:
- Set the iron temperature to 120-130°C.
- Warm the mohair strip with several strokes of the iron. Alternatively, use a hairdryer or heat gun to warm the strip and soften the adhesive.
- Remove the mohair strip from the ski.
- Remove any remaining adhesive with wax remover or technical gasoline and let the groove for the new strip dry.
- Peel off the protective paper from the new strip, warm the strip and adhesive with a hairdryer or heat gun. Then apply the mohair strip into the cleaned area. Gradually apply the strip from tip to tail in the correct direction!
- Finally, press the mohair strip with a heated iron. The strip and adhesive will warm up and fit better into the groove.
