Product detailed description

FENIX HP16R, 1250lm / 260m, rechargeable headlamp

The rechargeable headlamp Fenix HP16R offers a total output of up to 1250 lumens and features two light beams. The spotlight with a premium LED Luminus SST-40 creates a well-focused beam with a range of up to 260 meters, while the second reflector with a powerful LED Cree XP-G3 S4 provides a very wide and smooth light beam up to a distance of 48 meters. The spotlight's light output is up to 1250 lumens, and the wide beam reflector offers a maximum output of 400 lumens with a neutral light tint. Both LEDs can be controlled independently, allowing you to freely combine the light from both reflectors to achieve a short-term light output of up to 1250 lumens. The spotlight offers four lighting levels, and the wide beam offers three. Additionally, the headlamp is equipped with a red LED with a 5-lumen output, which can be used to send an SOS signal in emergencies.

It is powered by a Li-polymer battery ARB-LP3000 with a capacity of 3000 mAh, included in the package, and charges via a modern USB-C connector. This battery is housed in a rear case, ensuring the headlamp is well-balanced on the head. If needed, it can be replaced with four standard AA batteries, although the maximum output is limited to 800 lumens, and they cannot be charged in the headlamp.

The headlamp is made from hardened aluminum and durable plastics, and its construction is fully dustproof and waterproof according to the IP66 standard, as well as impact-resistant from drops up to 2 meters. It also features an extended runtime function. During prolonged use of individual lighting modes, the headlamp gradually reduces output in small steps to achieve longer lighting times.

The HP16R headlamp replaces the older HP15 version and, thanks to its high performance, durability, and the ability to use AA batteries, is suitable for anyone needing a strong and reliable partner in extreme conditions. It serves well for professionals like rescuers, as well as athletes, climbers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts.

All headlamp parameters (light output, battery runtime, water resistance, beam distance, and impact resistance) are measured in accordance with the ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009 standard.

Specifications of the Fenix HP16R Headlamp

  • The light source in the spotlight is a white LED Luminus SST-40, the source in the wide reflector is Cree XP-G2 S3 with a neutral light tint, and a red LED Everlight 2835 is also available. All with a lifespan of 50,000 hours of lighting.
  • Total of nine performance modes:
    • Spotlight: 1250 lumens (4 hours*) -> 400 lumens (8 hours*) -> 150 lumens (12 hours) -> 50 lumens (36 hours)
    • Wide reflector: 400 lumens (8 hours*) -> 150 lumens (12 hours) -> 5 lumens (300 hours)

  • * During prolonged use of the two highest lighting modes, the headlamp gradually reduces output in small steps to achieve longer lighting times.
  • Uses a Li-polymer battery Fenix ARB-LP3000 (included).
  • Charging via USB-C connector, charging time for a fully depleted battery is approximately 3 hours.
  • Alternatively, four AA batteries (alkaline, Energizer L91 Ultimate Lithium, or rechargeable NiMH) can be used for power. These batteries cannot be charged in the headlamp, and the maximum output is limited to 800 lumens.
  • Switches are protected against accidental activation in luggage.
  • The battery is housed in a separate rear case, ensuring the headlamp is well-balanced on the head.
  • The reflector can be tilted in several steps to set the desired lighting direction.
  • Made from durable plastic and aircraft-grade hardened aluminum.
  • Impact-resistant from drops up to 2 meters.
  • Headlamp dimensions including mounts: 6.2 cm x 4.7 cm x 3.2 cm

Using the HP16R Headlamp

A protective cover may be on the battery from the factory. Remove it before first use.

The spotlight is activated by holding the right button (approx. 0.5s), while the wide reflector or red light is activated by holding the left button (0.5s). Pressing the right button cycles through the spotlight modes, and pressing the left button cycles through the wide reflector and red light modes in the following order: white 5, 150, 400 lumens, red 5 lumens, SOS signal. Both reflectors can be turned off by holding the respective button, and the headlamp remembers the last set mode after being turned off (except when turned off in the highest spotlight mode, it will turn on in the second-highest mode next time). Both reflectors can be turned on simultaneously.

Battery charge status indication - A short press of any button (headlamp must be off) activates the battery charge status LED indicator between the buttons. If the green light is on, the battery is charged 85-100%, if the green light blinks, it is charged 50-85%. If the red light is on, the battery is charged 25-50%, and if it starts blinking, the battery is critically low, charged less than 25%.

Control buttons can be locked to prevent accidental activation, e.g., during transport in luggage - in the off state, press both buttons and hold them for at least 3 seconds, then the headlamp will flash red, indicating it is locked. To unlock, hold both buttons for three seconds again.

Overheat protection: If the headlamp temperature exceeds 65°C, it will automatically reduce output in gradual steps until the temperature stabilizes. Once the temperature drops below 65°C, the output will gradually increase again.

Low battery warning: When the voltage drops below a certain level, it automatically switches to a lower output mode. If the battery status indicator starts blinking during lighting, the battery is almost depleted.

Charging: Open the USB-C connector cover on the battery case and connect the included charging cable. Connect the other end of the cable to a computer, power bank, or USB adapter for the power grid or car USB adapter (not included). During charging, the LED on the battery case lights up red. Once fully charged, it remains green. Charging a fully depleted battery takes approximately 3 hours.

Low battery warning - the headlamp gradually automatically reduces the number of available output modes. When the batteries are completely depleted, only the lowest mode will be available.

Warnings

  • Do not disassemble sealed parts yourself, as this will void the warranty.
  • Use only the Fenix ARB-LP3000 battery or quality AA batteries to avoid damaging the flashlight, for example, due to battery leakage.
  • If using disposable AA batteries, remove them from the headlamp if not used for an extended period or if the batteries are depleted. This prevents leakage and subsequent damage to the headlamp.
  • If the headlamp blinks, does not switch to higher output modes, or does not light up, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
    • The batteries are almost depleted – replace them or recharge the battery.
    • The contacts in the battery holder are dirty – clean them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.

Warranty

Five-year warranty on the headlamp, two years on the battery.
