Product detailed description

FENIX HM70R, 1600lm / 186m, Rechargeable Headlamp

Fenix HM70R is an extremely powerful rechargeable headlamp offering a light output of up to 1600 lumens. The package includes a rechargeable 21700 Li-ion battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh, which charges directly in the headlamp via a USB-C connector. The headlamp is equipped with multiple light sources; the spotlight features a LED Luminus SST-40 that can reach a distance of up to 186 meters. The second wide reflector is equipped with a LED Cree XP-G2 HE with a warmer tone (neutral white) and a power of 400 lumens, providing a very wide and smooth light beam. Additionally, the headlamp features a red light with 5 lumens output, capable of running on the lowest setting for almost 17 days and blinking continuously for over 33 days.

The construction from lightweight aluminum alloy ensures high durability, optimal cooling, and is fully waterproof according to the IP68 standard, up to 2 meters underwater. The Fenix HM70R headlamp is an excellent choice for those who demand top performance and extreme battery life. It will be appreciated by cyclists, spelunkers, mountain guides, ski mountaineers, climbers, rescuers, as well as industrial workers, regular tourists, and anglers.

Usage

From the factory, there may be a white insulating cover on the battery inside the flashlight. Before first use, remove it from the battery.

  • When the headlamp is off, it turns on to the last used mode of the spotlight by holding the button for 0.5 seconds (except when turned off in the highest mode, then it turns on in the second-highest mode next time).
  • When the headlamp is off, it turns on to the red mode of the wide reflector by double-clicking the button quickly.
  • When the headlamp is on, it turns off by holding the button for 0.5 seconds.
  • When the headlamp is on, you can switch between the spotlight and wide reflector by holding the button for 1.2 seconds. The reflectors cannot be activated simultaneously.

If the headlamp is on, you can cycle through the performance modes by short pressing the button in the order of 30 - 150 - 500 - 1600 lumens (when the spotlight is on) or red 5 lumens - white 30 lumens - white 400 lumens - red flashing (when the wide reflector is on). The flashlight has memory for the spotlight and will always turn on in the last set mode (except when turned off in the highest mode, then it turns on in the second-highest mode next time). The wide reflector always starts in red light.

Battery Charge Status Indicator: After a short press of the button (the headlamp must be off), the LED battery charge status indicator in the button is activated. Green light indicates that the battery is charged to 85-100%, flashing green light to 50-85%, red light to 25-50%, and flashing red light to less than 25%.

Locking the Headlamp Against Accidental Activation: Loosen the battery cap of the headlamp by a quarter turn, interrupting the electrical contact, and the headlamp cannot be turned on. The button can also be locked electronically – with the headlamp off, hold the button for 3 seconds. After locking, the flashlight will flash red. To unlock, hold the button for 3 seconds again.

Overheat Protection: If the headlamp temperature exceeds 65°C, it will automatically reduce the output in gradual steps until the temperature stabilizes. Once the temperature drops below 65°C, the highest performance modes can be used again.

Low Battery Warning: If the battery voltage drops below a set level, the headlamp will automatically switch to lower performance modes. If the headlamp is already in the lowest performance mode and the battery is critically low, the indicator in the button will start flashing red. However, the headlamp will continue to shine until the battery is completely discharged. Note: The low battery warning is calibrated only for rechargeable Li-ion battery voltage.

Charging

Unscrew the waterproof cap on the side covering the USB-C connector. Connect the USB-C charging cable to the headlamp and the other end to a USB port on a computer, a USB wall adapter, or a USB car adapter. Any mobile phone charger with a USB-C connector can also be used for charging. During charging, the side button lights up red, and when fully charged, it turns green. Charging a fully discharged battery takes approximately 4 hours. The used Li-ion battery does not suffer from memory effect, so the headlamp can be recharged at any time. After charging, tighten the waterproof cap again. During charging, the headlamp can be used, but only the 150 lumens mode of the spotlight is available.

Warning

  • Do not disassemble sealed parts yourself, as this will void the warranty.
  • If the headlamp blinks, does not switch to higher performance modes, or does not turn on, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
    • The battery is almost discharged – recharge or replace it.
    • The headlamp cap is loose – tighten it.
    • Electrical contacts are dirty – clean them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.

Warranty

Five-year warranty on the headlamp, two years on the battery.
