Product detailed description

FENIX HL18R - Rechargeable Headlamp

The compact rechargeable Fenix HL18R headlamp delivers up to 400 lumens (ANSI) and a range of up to 76 meters. It is powered by a replaceable lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 1300 mAh, which charges via a micro-USB connector directly in the headlamp. The battery can be removed and replaced with three standard AAA batteries in an emergency (cannot be charged in the headlamp). The light source is a modern LED Cree XP-G3 with a warmer light tint, located in the main reflector. Two white LED Everlight 2835 provide supplementary lighting, creating a wide and very smooth light beam.

There are a total of 7 power modes available, including an SOS flash mode for emergencies. The headlamp is also equipped with a runtime extension function. During prolonged use in 400, 130, 70, and 30 lumen modes, the headlamp gradually reduces output in small steps to achieve longer lighting time.

The headlamp's advantages include good water and dust resistance, meeting the IP66 standard. The headband is perforated and equipped with reflective elements, ensuring good all-around visibility when running on the road. Weighing only 80 grams, the Fenix HL18R serves well as a running headlamp and for camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities.

All headlamp parameters (light output, battery runtime, waterproofness, range, and impact resistance) are measured according to the standard.

Usage

The main reflector is turned on and off by pressing the right button for 0.5 seconds, and the supplementary LEDs are turned on and off by holding the left button. The headlamp always turns on in the lowest mode, and you can switch to other power levels at any time during operation by pressing the corresponding button. The main reflector and supplementary LEDs cannot be activated simultaneously.

Battery charge status indication - A short press of the left button (headlamp must be off) activates the LED battery charge indicator on the bottom of the headlamp. Four lit LEDs mean the battery is charged over 80%, three lit 60-80%, two 40-60%, one 20-40%, and one flashing indicates the battery is charged less than 20%.

Control buttons can be locked to prevent accidental activation, e.g., during transport in luggage - hold both buttons pressed for 3 seconds. To unlock, hold both buttons again for 3 seconds.

Overheat protection - During prolonged operation in turbo mode, the headlamp gradually reduces output to prevent overheating.

Charging

  • Flip open the rubber cover of the micro USB connector on the bottom of the headlamp and use the included USB cable to connect it to a computer, power bank, wall adapter, or car adapter. Any mobile phone charger with a micro USB connector can also be used for charging.
  • During charging, the four indicator LEDs on the bottom light up gradually, and all remain lit when fully charged.
  • Charging a fully depleted battery takes approximately 2.5 hours.
  • The used battery does not suffer from memory effect, so the headlamp can be recharged at any time.
  • Thoroughly seal the USB connector cover after each charge.
  • The headlamp can be turned on during charging, but only in the lowest mode.

Warnings

  • Do not disassemble sealed parts yourself, as this will void the warranty.
  • Never use differently charged AAA batteries or batteries with different capacities.
  • Always carefully check that the batteries are inserted into the headlamp with the correct polarity.
  • If the headlamp blinks, does not switch to higher power modes, or does not light up, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
    • The battery is almost depleted – recharge it.

Warranty

Five-year warranty on the headlamp, two-year warranty on the battery.
